The Election Commission of India is all set to launch Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card(e-EPIC) on 25th January which is celebrated as the National Voter’s Day. The e-EPIC will be in the form of a PDF of the Electoral Photo Identity Card. This identity card cannot be edited. It will come along with a secure QR code picture as well as with a serial number, part number and so on.

As per the reports of the news agency ANI, it would be available for download on mobile or computer and could be stored safely in a digital format.  This will be in addition to the physical ID.  According to an ECI official, the e-EPIC will be launched in two phases. The first phase will be running from 25th January to 31st January.

During this period all the new voters would be able to download their e-EPIC, who all have already placed their applications for the voter identity card and have also registered their mobile numbers in Form-6. The mobile number should not be already registered in the Election Commission’s voter list.

The second phase of this digitisation drive will begin from February 1. In this, all the voters who have registered their mobile numbers will be able to download their e-EPIC.
