Delhi CM praises Modi’s government decision of passing Motor Vehicle Act. He said that the new act has a lot to improve the traffic situation in Delhi. This statement comes from Arvind Kejriwal when many state governments have stated publicly that they want the new fines to get reduced. During a press conference, Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi’s traffic has been improved since New Motor Vehicle Act has been implemented. He added that if there is any clause due to which people are facing the problem then the government will certainly do something to reduce the fine.

Amendments in the new motor vehicle act
Motor Vehicles Amendment Act, 2019 has been implemented in India from 1st September, 2019. This act contains 63 provisions to deal with penalties, registration, licenses and National Transport Policy. According to the new policy, the penalty for using the unauthorised vehicles without license has been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 and penalty for driving without license from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000. Along with this, drunken driving penalty has been increased upto Rs 10,000/imprisonment upto 6 months.

This is not the first time that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has supported and appreciated the Centre’s initiative. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal has extended his support for the government for its role in combating pollution in New Delhi and over its decision to remove Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and divide the state into two Union Territories-Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Purpose is to save the people’s life
Road and Transportation Minister, Nitin Gadkari said that the government doesn’t intend to increase the revenue by increasing the fine. The main purpose is to make the roads safer and reduce the number of road accidents. He said that nobody will be fined if they are following the rules. He added that as Motor Vehicle Act falls in the concurrent list so the state and the centre both can revise and frame the rules.
