Actor Akshay Kumar has been known for taking up the most versatile and demanding roles. Examples of this include him playing a boxer in Karan Malhotra’s 2015 Brothers or playing an Indian business in Kuwait in Raja Menon’s Airlift. He has never ceased to impress in any role. However, it seems this time he’s going to try something new again.
The recently released first look of Laxmmi Bomb by choreographer turned director Raghava Lawrence definitely says so. Akshay’s first look was revealed on social media by him on the 18th of May. It shows him in a close up shot with kohl applied all over his face. The look coupled with the script for the original movie Kanchana suggests that the role is going to be a horror one.

Similarities between script of Kanchana and Laxmmi Bomb
The script for Kanchana goes as follows: Akshay plays the protagonist who gets possessed by the spirit of a transgender. His girlfriend (played by Kiara Advani) helps him escape this. Though the female lead had a very minor role in the Tamil version, there is speculation and talk that this may not be the case in the Hindi adaptation.
Release Date Controversy between Akshay Kumar films
The movie is set to be released in 2020, though the exact date is still uncertain due to the clash with Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, which also features Akshay Kumar. Hence, speculation is rife as to which of the two movies will be shifted to a later date, though if inside sources can be believed, it will be Sooryavanshi. Both the movies are currently scheduled to be released somewhere in the first week of June 2020. An official announcement is expected soon to clear this up.

However, as of right now, people cannot stop talking about whether Akshay Kumar will be able to do justice to the character and perform as well as he usually does. Playing a horror role is not an easy task, and not everyone is up for it. This is going to be Akshay’s first horror role, and the character is so far outside his comfort zone that everything is very unpredictable.
