After the general election results, Jagan Mohan Reddy has finally achieved victory and is all set to become the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
9- year long wait
Jagan had to wait for 9 long years for this victory. YSRCP was declared to have won 90 seats in the assembly, after which Jagan was unanimously elected as the Legislative party leader. He was later felicitated by the party members at the legislative party meeting in Amravati.
Soon after the news was out , the incumbent Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu resigned.
Jagan Mohan Reddy is the third youngest leader to take the seat of CM in the state. Presently he is 46 years old. Before him, the youngest CM of all was Damodaram Sanjeevaiah. He was 38 years and 11 months old, when he rose to power as a CM. The second youngest CM has been N Chandrababu Naidu who was 45 years old when he became the CM of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
However, the title of the youngest CM of the country is with Prafulla Kumar Mohanta who headed the Assam State Government when he was 33. Presently the young CMs in the country are Meghalaya’s Kongkal Sangma (40), Maharashtra’s Devendra Fadnavis (43) and Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath (44).
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as hub for start ups and new technologies. Now, it is to be seen whether Jagan is able to continue this legacy in the coming years.
