Climate activist Disha Ravi has got bail in the toolkit case related to the farmer protest. Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Tuesday granted Disha conditional bail on a bond of rupees 1 lakh. Disha gets bail after being in jail for 9 days.
The court said,‘it is not a crime to create a WhatsApp group or edit a toolkit. Investigation agencies cannot be allowed to ban the freedom of the people based on mere guesses’.
No proof of a link between Disha and SFJ: Court
The court said that no evidence proves that there is a direct link between Disha and the banned organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). Neither there is any record that can prove that Disha supports separatist ideology.
The court said that even on bail, Disha will have to cooperate in the investigation. She will have to appear for investigation whenever summoned. The Disha will not leave the country without the permission of the court. Meanwhile, the co-accused in the case, Shantanu Muluk, has also filed a bail petition in the court. It can be heard on Wednesday.
Court asked for evidence
In the last hearing, the court had asked the Delhi Police, what evidence do you have that there is a connection between the toolkit and the violence on 26 January? On this, Delhi Police had told that investigation is going on.
Police had told the court that Disha is also involved in the global conspiracy to defame India. Through this, an attempt was made to spoil the atmosphere under the guise of the farmers’ movement. Disha not only created and shared a toolkit, but she was also in touch with a Khalistan supporter. However, Disha’s counsel had termed these allegations baseless.
Tuesday is the last day of remand
Disha Ravi’s police remand ended on Monday itself. After which the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate extended one-day police remand. However, the Delhi Police sought a 5-day remand from the court. Today this remand will also end. Therefore, Today Police will questionDisha Ravi in front of co-accused Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk in this case. Police say that Disha had put all the blame on Shantanu and Nikita, so it is necessary to sit face to face.
