The country is now witnessing a steady decline in COVID-19 cases. On the previous day, 2.81 lakh people in the country were tested COVID positive. This was the first time in the last 26 days when less than 3 lakh new infections have been identified in a single day. Earlier on April 20, 2.94 lakh new cases of Corona were reported.
However, the pace of daily deaths due to corona is not slowing down. 4,106 people succumbed to COVID-19 yesterday. The positive news, however, is that during the last 24 hours more than 3.78 lakh people beat corona. This is the second-highest number of people recovering in a single day. Earlier, on 8th May, 3.86 lakh people had recovered from Corona.

Corona updates:
- Amid the Corona pandemic, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a plea to declare the lawyers as frontline workers. In the meantime, the court has sent a notice to the government seeking an answer.
- Lockdown has been extended once again in Delhi and Haryana. Restrictions will continue in both states till May 24. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced this on Sunday. Kejriwal said that the lockdown, which ends on May 17, is being extended till May 24 to overcome the corona.
- According to the Union Health Ministry, the Government of India has so far provided more than 20 crores vaccine doses free of cost to the states and union territories. Out of which, more than 1.84 crore vaccine doses are still available with them. Apart from this, they will get around 51 lakh doses in the next 3 days.
- The first batch of 10 thousand doses of DRDO’s anti-corona drug 2-DG was released for Emergency Use on Monday. Now this medicine can be given to patients. This drug is in the form of a powder. This drug will first be given to patients admitted to DRDO COVID-19 Hospital in Delhi.
