Sport’s events shadowed by COVID-19 are likely to resume soon

Big-ticket sport’s events around the world were halted due to COVID-19. But the world is now returning on the track again, so we all are expecting to enjoy our favourite sports soon. Here is the list of some scheduled events that might take place soon.

Cricket     

The domestic season of England is likely to happen in July, but there will be restrictions on gathering of the crowd. However, the New Hundred tournament has been deferred until 2021. The test series of three matches between England and West Indies might begin on July 8. The events in India are currently under suspension including the most awaited IPL. BCCI may reschedule this big event somewhere between September- October.

Football

Ligue 1 was ended before the scheduled time, 10 rounds were still left. Table topper Paris saint Germain were announced winners in this series in April. In England, Premier Clubs are meeting and planning to organise 92 matches event at a neutral venue without spectators, though many are clubs are against this. Spain allowed the training a few weeks back and 5 players were found positive, this may affect the La Liga which was scheduled in mid-June. Similarly, in Italy 10 players of Serie A were tested positive, but players are still practicing for Serie A which is scheduled on June 13.

Racing events

As many as 10 major races were postponed, but now Formula one is hoping to open in Austria on July 5 and 12. F1 is targeting at least 15 races. Similarly Moto GP is likely to organise back to back races ok July 19 and 26 in Spain.

Tennis

The decision on the dates of US Open might come after mid June. ATP and WTA are also not planning anything before July. The clouds over French Open are still present which was earlier delayed till September 20.

Basketball

NBA chief informed that decision on NBA events will come in June, but these events will not take place at multiple venues but limited to one or two hubs among which Orlando and Las Vegas are at priority.

Golf

If all go well then USPGA’s season will resume from June 11, but the players coming from outside will be kept in quarantine for 14 days. LPGA tour is scheduled from July 13. The European tour of British Masters tournament is ready to take place from July 30. The Ryder Club at Whistling Straits could happen between September 25 and 27. Earlier British open was cancelled, but PGA championship is set to return in San Francisco from August 6-9. US open is also scheduled for September 17-20 and the Masters is scheduled for November 12-15.

Cycling

The biggest and most important cycling event Tour de France was earlier scheduled for June 27 but was delayed and now it will take place on August 29.

Athletics

The biggest athletics’ event i.e. Olympics was delayed this year till 2021. But the Diamond League is scheduled to start on August 14, earlier the kick-start venue was Doha but the new origin is Monaco. The 12 meetings long event will culminate in China at a yet undecided venue.
