  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated 35 special quality crop varieties developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to the nation on 28 September 2021. These varieties have been developed with the aim of tackling the twin challenges of climate change and malnutrition. The Prime Minister inaugurated the new campus of the National Institute of Biological Stress Tolerance (NIBST) at Baronda, Raipur through video conferencing and dedicated 35 special crop varieties to the nation. The video conferencing was organized in all the institutes of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), State and Central Agricultural Universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now named the mid-day meal scheme for children in government schools across the country as PM Nutrition Scheme.  Now children of Bal Vatika or pre-primary class will also be included under the PM nutrition scheme. A tradition named Tithi Bhojan is now being started in government schools across the country. With this facility, people around will be able to provide special food to school children on any special occasion or festival.

  • Cyclonic storm Gulab hit the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha around 7 pm. With this, rain has started in Srikakulam, Andhra with strong winds.  Here a boat collided with a storm along the coast.  There were 6 fishermen trapped and fell into the sea when the boat hit a strong wave. Two of them died. Three reached the shore safely and one fisherman is still missing.  The accident happened on the Mandasa coast.
  • The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), which supplies arms, ammunition and clothing to the Indian Armed Forces, have been dissolved with effect from October 01, 2021. The Centre said that 41 factories of OFB will be divided into seven new corporate units. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 16, 2021, approved the division of the Board into 07 new corporate entities. These seven new state-owned corporate entities will manufacture vehicles, ammunition and explosives, weapons and equipment, optoelectronics gear, military comfort items, parachutes and accessories. 
  • The path has been cleared for the opening of the Gold Stock Exchange in the country. In this exchange, trading of gold will be done like shares in the form of an Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR). Gold can also be procured by redeeming EGR. Market regulator SEBI’s board meeting on Tuesday approved the framework for the Gold Exchange and SEBI (Vault Managers) Regulations, 2021. The face value of EGR for trading can be decided by recognized stock exchanges with the approval of SEBI. EGR will not have an expiry date and EGR holders can keep it for as long as they want and can surrender the EGR and take gold from the vault at that time value by surrendering the EGR. EGR will be notified as a security under the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956. Any recognized or new stock exchange can start EGR trading in a different segment.

  • 90 crore doses of the corona vaccine have been administered in the country. Health Minister MansukhMandviya gave this information on Gandhi Jayanti. He tweeted that Shastriji had given the slogan of Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan, Atal Ji had added Jai Vigyan to it and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the slogan of Jai Anusandhan. The vaccination program for healthcare workers was started across the country from January 16. After this, vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2. Vaccination  gained momentum after the vaccination was allowed to all people above the age of 18 from May 1.
  • In a response to Corona ban on Indian travellers in Britain. Now travellers coming from Britain will have to be isolated in India for 10 days. The government has issued this order on October 1. Apart from this, people of UK will also have to undergo RTPCR test.According to the order, the passenger will have to undergo a test even if the person is vaccinated.  Travelers will be required to undergo RTPCR test up to 72 hours before the start of the journey and 8 days after arrival.
  • Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh may soon form a new political party. The name of this party will be Punjab Vikas Party (PVP). Before the announcement of the party, Amarinder has contacted the leaders close to him. Navjot Singh Sidhu’s opponents will also be included in this party. Amarinder had to leave the CM’s chair a few days ago.  After that, he went on a Delhi tour. He had met Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval here. After this, he said that he will not stay in Congress.  He had also refused to join the BJP.
  • TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has won the by-election from Bhawanipur assembly seat in West Bengal. CM Mamta has defeated BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal by 58,832 votes. CM Mamta got 84,709 votes after 21 rounds of counting. TMC has also captured two more seats in the by-elections.  Trinamool workers are celebrating this victory fiercely.
  • Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra allegedly rammed a car on protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. These farmers were opposing Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. 8 people died in this incident. District administration of Lakhimpur Kheri has confirmed 8 deaths, of which 4 were farmers and the remaining 4 were either in the vehicle that crushed the farmers or were sitting in other vehicles included in the minister’s convoy. After the incident, angry farmers set two vehicles on fire. The incident took a big political incident now as protesting farmers are involved in it.
