Sushant Singh Rajput: the journey from college to Bollywood

The year 2020 is wreaking havoc on the world in many ways. The year is also very bad for Bollywood. Indian cinema lost its 2 jewels a few weeks back and yesterday the young Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput did suicide. The actor had a huge fan following among youth. In this article, we will see his glorious acting career.

Sushant Singh was born in Patna, Bihar in 1986. After the death of his mother, his family shifted to Delhi from Patna. Sushant was a very bright scholar and cracked many engineering exams. He took admission in Delhi Technical University and opted Mechanical Engineering there. During the course of his studies, he developed an interest in dancing, so he joined Shiamak Davar’s dance classes and eventually he developed interest in acting as well. During his engineering, he danced in a crew at 51st Filmfare  Awards function. Later in 2006, he performed in a crew in Australia for the opening ceremony of Commonwealth games. Later he devoted his entire focus to dance and acting, so he left his engineering in the final year. He moved to Mumbai then and joined Nadira Babbar’s theatre group.

Sushant got his breakthrough from a TV serial named Kis desh me hai Mera Dil.  People loved his character in the show. But in 2009 he got his biggest break when Ekta Kapoor launched him as a lead actor in her daily soap Pavitra Rishta. He earned a huge following from this TV serial and one year later he showed up in a dance reality show named Zara Nach Ke Dekha. Later in the same year, he appeared in another dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

In 2011, Sushant left his TV career to enter into Bollywood and he got success in this. Sushant made his debut in Bollywood from movie Kai Po Che, his acting was very much praised in the movie. In 2013, he appeared in romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance with Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor. The movie is based on a live-in relationship. Later, in next year he performed in the biggest hit of that year, PK opposite Anushka Sharma. In 2015 Rajput did the lead role in suspense thriller  Detective Byomkesh Bakshi. However, for him, the true success was yet to come.

In 2016, he appeared in Biopic of M.S. Dhoni, which was the biggest hit of that year. Sushant earned a lot of fame from that movie. In following years he did some other movies like Raabta, Kedarnath, Sonchiraiya. In 2019, his movie Chichhore earned well on box office. Sushant was last seen in Drive with Jacqueline. Sushant had completed his another movie named Dil Bechara which is yet to be released.

 In all, through these years Sushant earned great fame and created his niche in the industry. He received multiple awards for his outstanding performances in many fields like dance, TV serial and cinema. He was very versatile mad and became successful on his own, this is the reason why he was vocal against nepotism in the film industry.
