MTV is all set to organize Video Music Awards; committed to ensuring everyone’s safety

Amid COVID-19 pandemic MTV has decided to go ahead with the 2020 Video Music Awards. The venue for this year’s ceremony is Barclays Centre of New York City. The event will take place on Sunday, August 30. TVLine network has learned and assured some great performances from various iconic locations in all five boroughs i.e., The Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.

ViacomCBS Media Networks in a statement said: “We are elated to bring back the 2020 VMAs to New York City, the cultural mecca of the world where music and entertainment are woven into the DNA.”

Oliver Weisberg, CEO of Barclays Centre and the Brooklyn Nets said: “The 2020 MTV VMAs will be the first Barclays Centre event since the COVID-19 pandemic reached New York.” He further said “We are very excited to host this legendary music night once again. We are especially proud of the positive impact it will have on our community of Brooklyn through the local jobs creation. We are deeply appreciating the support and advice of state and local government officials, as well as our team of medical experts and internal management. All of them have been working so hard to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, and we will continue to closely follow the guidelines given by them throughout every step of the planning process with our partners at ViacomCBS.”

As per a release from the network, it is clear that the health and safety of artists, staff, fans, industry and partners is the highest priority. Show producers are working with Barclays management to coordinate with state and local officials to implement the best measures for everyone who is going to be there. Among these measures, everyone involved has aligned to include extensive social distancing procedures, meaningful capacity limitations, the virtualization of components where possible, and limited capacity or no audience. Details and potential options to come at a later date based on the science and data in New York. ViacomCBS and Barclays Centre are very much committed to ensuring that the show doesn’t compromise the health and safety of everyone involved.
