Fake TRP case: CIU Labelled The Owner of Republic TV as Wanted

So far 9 people have been arrested by the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Mumbai Police in the fake TRP case.  In a recent shocking event, on Saturday, CIU labelled the owner and operator of Republic Channel for the first time as a ‘wanted’.  CIU has also shown the owners and runners of Hindi channel News Nation and MahaMovie channel as wanted.  The owners of Fakht Marathi Channel and Box Cinema have already been arrested in this case.  Now five channels are directly accused in TRP rigging case.

 The entire incident became public when the CIU produced two accused Ramji Verma and Dinesh Vishwakarma before the court for fresh remand.  In the same remand application, CIU has shown five accused wanted.  It has the name of Abhishek Kolwane on the first number, while on the second, third and fourth are the owners of Republic, News Nation and MahaMovie, however, CIU does not mention any specific names, on this CIU maintains this suspense. 

An arrest may happen soon

 After the names of Republic and other channels appear in the remand copy, now the CIU can send the summons to their owners and operators.  Since the owners of Fakht Marathi and Box Cinema have been arrested in this case.  Therefore it is certain that the owners of Republic and other accused channels may also be arrested.

Arnab did not appear before the court again

 Earlier, Republic TV channel editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami had to appear before the ACP of Worli Division on Saturday in the chapter case. On that Saturday he appeared outside N.M. Joshi Marg police station in support of his journalist colleagues against whom an FIR was lodged by the Special Branch of the Mumbai Police on Friday and sent summons to appear on Saturday, but Arnab did not appear before the ACP worli division in chapter case against himself.
