Raj Kundra has been sent to police custody till July 23 in a case related to production of porn movies. After the news of his arrest, not only the film world but the media is also shocked. According to Police, they were investigating the matter since February. Understand the whole issue with the help of following questions:
What Raj Kundra was doing?
The first question is what was Kundra doing under the guise of his business?
According to the police, this whole investigating started from February 2021. Mumbai Police had exposed a racket making porn movies. The Mumbai Police Commissioner told the media that the Crime Branch had registered a case in February for making obscene films and releasing them on different OTT platforms.
After this, raids were being conducted at different places.The police arrested 4 people and who were connected to Rajkundra. The police so far claim that Kundra is the mastermind in this case. The police have so far arrested 12 people in this case.
What was his modus operandi ?
Raj Kundra was dealing in porn videos through an app Hotshot. After his arrest, the police arrested actress Gehana Vashisht also. Raj Kundra’s former PA Umesh Kamat told the police about Raj Kundra’s involvement.
However, Raj Kundra has claimed that he has sold the Hotshot app to Pradeep Bakshi. Pradeep Bakshi himself is a wanted accused in this case. But this argument of Raj Kundra proves to be blank when such evidence comes to the fore which testifies the involvement of Kundra in the financial transactions of the whole business.

It has been found in the investigation that Raj Kundra was regularly taking updates about the financial transactions of this app. For this, Kundra had also created a WhatsApp group, of which he was the admin, where he used to discuss distribution and financial transactions related to the clips of Hotshot.
Gehna Vashisht and Umesh Kamat were both producer directors and used to write stories for Hotshot. Raj Kundra had many conversations about Hotshot related money transactions.
Where this production was taking place?
The bungalow where Porn Movies was shot is only 200-300 meters away from the sea. The proper is in a quiet, deserted and green area. There is no other bungalow in its proximity. Small films and serials were often shot in the bungalow. In such a situation, no one would have doubted that the shooting of porn films is also done here. The whole bungalow was covered with huge iron sheets. Separate make-up rooms were also made for the artists.
Now what?
After the matter came to light, Raj Kundra was arrested. He was produced in the court. Kundra’s phone has been seized by the police for investigating. The two sections on Kundra are non-bailable. IPC 420 & 67A.
What is the law in India against pornography?
Porn content and pornographic materials are being served all over the world through the Internet. This includes movies or any audio-video content based on sexual acts and sex organs. The Anti-Pornography Act has been enacted to bring such material under the purview of the law, under which it is illegal to make, sell, send such material anywhere through any other medium. It is illegal to publish, broadcast and transmit porn to others by electronic means. But it is not illegal to see, read or listen to it. While viewing child pornography is also illegal.
In case of violation of above provisions, a case is registered under sections of IT Act and IPC for promoting and spreading porn. Section 67 (A) of the IT (Amendment) Act 2008 applies in cases falling under pornography. Along with this, there is a provision for punishment under IPC sections 292, 293, 294, 500, 506 and 509.
The first offense can be punished with imprisonment of up to five years or fine up to Rs 10 lakh, depending on the gravity of the offence. For the second time offender the prison sentence can be increased to 7 years.
