Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559 which was the first capital of Mewar. Along with this, he also laid the foundation of the very beautiful City Palace in Udaipur. The palace which is located on the bank of Lake Pichola is an architectural marvel of Rajasthan. It is now an undertaking of the descendants of Maharana Udai Singh II. Arvind Singh Mewar is the 76th custodian of Mewar Dynasty who belongs to the royal family of Udaipur. At present, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur is the direct descendant of Arvind Singh Mewar. This royal family has a wealth of thousands of crores including the city palace complex.

About the City Palace of Udaipur
City Palace was built by different Maharanas of Udaipur over a period of 400 years. Hence, the amalgamation of different styles and architecture can be easily seen in the design of City Palace. The palace has a multi arched gate that keeps the modern Udaipur at bay. City Palace is now a museum. The crystal gallery has staggering collection of unique and precious crystals. According to the stories, Maharana Sajjan Singh had ordered the crystals in 1877 from Birmingham-based F&C Osler And Company. However, he died before the crystals were delivered to him. Later the crystals were put on the display in 1994. The assembly of crystals in Fateh Prakash Palace showcase the largest collection of crystals under one roof. Here you can find tables, throne-like chairs, a sofa set, footrests, fountains, crockery, washing bowls, candle stands, hookahs, decanters, dinner sets, perfume bottles and even a bed. All these items are made up of crystals. The use of precious crystals made easier to grab the attention from everyone who comes to this palace.
