Good news for the candidates of the Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The central government has finally agreed to give candidates another chance in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. The government has filed an affidavit in this regard in the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court has been hearing the petition filed by Rachna Singh, a civil service candidate, for the past several days. The petition said that due to Corona pandemic, many candidates could not appear in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in the year 2020. So many were not able to give their best in the examination which took place under adverse circumstances.
The petition has demanded that the candidates, for whom the last chance of appearing for the UPSC examination in 2020, be given another opportunity. Now the next hearing in the Supreme Court on this matter will be held on Monday. Earlier in September, the Supreme Court had asked the central government to extend the age limit for the candidates for whom UPSC Civil Services Examination 2020 is the last attachment, giving them another chance. But the government said that it would cause many problems.
Preliminary examination was held on October 4
UPSC held the Civil Services Preliminary Examination on 4 October. Although the examination was scheduled to be held in May, it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. In September 2020, the Supreme Court directed the Central Government and UPSC to give additional attentions while giving relaxation in age limit to those students whose last attempt was last year.
