Salman Khan’s must watch patriotic flicks

Salman Khan’s Bharat hitting the screens this week, fans are all set to throng the theatres in huge numbers. The plot of the movie is set in the 20th century and features high dose of patriotism. Salman’s childhood is shown during the partition time and the story revolves around Salman (Bharat) trying to bind together his family while maintaining good virtues.

Apart from Bharat, there are other patriotic movies featuring Salman Khan that are absolutely worth a watch. ‘Garv : Pride and Honour’ deserves the first mention here. It was released in the year 2004 and had Shilpa Shetty, Amrish Puri in the lead roles along with Salman. Salman plays the role of an honest police officer trying to fight off corruption and crime. 

Another movie named ‘’Heroes’’ also features Salman as a Sikh soldier and the plot involves a documentary being made on Indian Armed Forces.

One recent movie which earned a lot of accolades is ‘Bajrangi Bhaijan’. It is the story of Pawan, an ardent devotee of Lord Hanuman, who fights all odds to return Munni, a small Pakistani girl, safely to her home. The movie has been one of Salman’s greatest blockbusters and earned more than Rs. 900 crore globally. The film also featured Kareena Kapoor.

‘Ek tha Tiger’ was another hit on the screen with Salman and Katrina returning to screen together  after a long time. Salman plays the role of an Indian spy ‘Tiger’ who eventually falls in love with his Pakistani counterpart Katrina , during a mission. The two later abandon their professions in a bid to live together peacefully.

‘Tiger Zinda Hai’’ is the sequel to ‘Ek tha Tiger’ and has the same stars in lead. It is based on the 2014 abduction of Indian Nurses by ISIL. Both Salman and Katrina along with their team are seen rescuing a group of Indian and Pakistani Nurses held hostage by a terrorist outfit. With so many patriotic movies lined up in the past, it is hoped that Bharat continues the legacy and does well on the silver screen.
