WandaVision Reaches Mid-Season: Reveals “Multiverse” Impacts

by Shoubhik Sen

We’re officially at the midpoint of WandaVision and boy has it been crazy!!!!! We delved deeper into the “WestView Anomaly” and had the best reveal so far. Episode 5 also teased how Marvel plans to move forward with the MULTIVERSE story line.

Thus today, we shall look into just that. How WandaVision kick starts the adventures of the multiverse. The series gave us hints of a possible astronaut program, which might point to THE FANTASTIC 4. However, that won’t be or focus as of today. Instead, we’ll focus more on the Multiversal Impacts of the events of WandaVision.

One of the best reveals of this series so far, was possibly our first direct contact to the multiverse. This was in the form of a somewhat “resurrected” PIETRO MAXIMOFF. The only difference being that it wasn’t Aaron Taylor Johnson’s M.C.U version but EVAN PETERS‘s FOX Universe version.

Now we don’t know if it’s actually the Quicksilver from the X-Men movies or just another trick by Agnes or Mephisto to keep Wanda’s trance going. One theory says it might be Agnes might have overheard Vision breaking out of this reality. Hearing this, Mephisto would’ve come in as a distraction; posing as Pietro.

However, a more interesting theory we have, is that this is the beginning of the Multiversal Madness. Whoever the puppet master controlling this sit-com reality is (possibly Mephisto) is making sure Wanda doesn’t break out of the trance. Thus, he’s breaking the multiverse and has sent the 1st Pietro he got. This one turned out to be from the FOX Universe.

Now, Evan Peters’s appearance in light of the 2nd theory seems to point towards the fact that other hitherto unreachable universes are now accessible. Thus, the rumored casting of ex Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield don’t seem that far fetched. Possibly, these tweaks by the puppet master (possibly Mephisto) in the multiverse has made it unstable, whose effects we might see in Spider-Man 3. With realities converging, Holland’s Peter Parker may find unfamiliar foes emerge from the multiverse. This explains why ALFRED MOLINA is returning as DOC OCK (from the Maguire Spider-Man films) and JAMIE FOXX as ELECTRO (from the Garfield Spider-Man films). Thus, these unfamiliar foes shall bring surprise allies too, in the form of 2 veteran Spider-Men.

“Not only will Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness connect directly to
WandaVision, but it will also connect to the events of our new Spider-Man film,
coming to theaters December 2021”

– Kevin Feige (President, Marvel Studios)

Benedict Cumberbatch is confirmed to appear as Dr. Strange in Spider-Man 3. But even before this, Marvel confirmed that WandaVision directly tiesin to Doctor Strange 2 and Wanda Maximoff will appear in it. Considering Evan Peters’ appearance, the title of this movie makes even more sense; MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS.

This makes sense as the only known hero who CAN handle such beings is Doctor Strange. Episode 5 of WandaVision tried to hit home the fact that Wanda Maximoff is the one controlling this reality. However, we see that she too is powerless in many places. Thus, its clear someone else is controlling this “WestView Anomaly”. Agnes is the one who’s in charge to ensure that Wanda doesn’t find out about him and doesn’t “break character”.

The final leg of this story will see Strange navigate his way across dimensions and realities to find out the one pulling the strings behind Wanda and Agatha i.e. Mephisto.

On the way, Mephisto might even want to digress Strange, which would explain the emergence of NIGHTMARE. As the name suggests, he is an entity that haunts the dreams of others; so, he’ll probably either torment Strange or make Wanda snap by doing the same, which would bring yet another obstacle
in front of Strange in the form of the Scarlet Witch.

Thus, Strange will have his work cut out for him. Firstly, he needs to make Wanda realize that she needs to accept the reality and move on from death of loved ones. Secondly, he shall fight a multiverse hopping battle with the DEVIL HIMSELF.

This is just a theory after watching half a season of a series. Currently, there’s not much information on what surprises are in store from WandaVision. Also, the news on 2021’s Spider-Man movie and 2022’s Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness is scarce.

Thus, we have theorized from what we have seen and what we know. We know Elizabeth Olsen will appear as Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange 2. We also know that Benedict Cumberbatch will cameo as Dr. Strange in Spiderman 3. Additionally, the director of the 2002 Spider-Man movie SAM RAIMI is set to direct Multiverse of Madness, which is connected to the 2022 JON WATTS directed Spider-Man 3 movie. This is too big of a coincidence to happen. Feige and co. surely have something up their sleeve

All in all, we can guarantee that Marvel will explore the Multiverse more and more. We will see those worlds collide which till now existed in separate bubbles. Magic is going to get crazier, our heroes will have bigger challenges in their hands and finally, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF FAN SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!
