CRPF Jawan commits suicide

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has committed suicide on friday who was deployed on security duty at former Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi’s residence in Patna. He has been identified as Giriyappa Kirasoor (29), a constable with 122 battalion of the CRPF. the security personnel has ended his life by shooting himself with his service weapon. The weapon, an Israeli made rifle, has been seized and investigations are on.

The incident happened at Rabri Devi’s residence which is located near Secretariat in the state capital. The body of the deceased has been sent to the jawan’s native village in Bagalkot district of Karnataka. 

Police has launched a probe

Bihar Police are trying to ascertain the reasons responsible for the jawan’s suicide. Meanwhile, they have also launched a probe into the matter. So far, it is also not clear if Rabri Devi and her family members were present inside their residence when the incident happened.

According to the reports, Kirasoor had a “heated argument” over phone with his wife the previous day after which he was upset. Rabri Devi is the wife of RJD chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is currently in jail in connection with his conviction in fodder scam cases, and mother of politicians Tej Pratap and Tejasvi Yadav.
