Earlier, a statement from the government said that patients who have poor immunity can also get COVID-19 vaccine. However, the effect on such people has been seen relatively less during the vaccine trial. Cancer patients, HIV-positive people, and people taking steroids are usually immuno-suppressed, meaning their immunity is weak. The risk of infection is higher in such patients.

Bharat Biotech also suggested in its factsheet that if someone shows signs of becoming infected with COVID-19 after taking a dose of COVAXIN, an RT-PCR test will have to be done. Bharat Biotech has released this factsheet detailing the possible adverse events of the vaccine and the people eligible for the vaccine. It states that there is a very low chance that COVAXIN may cause severe allergic reactions including difficulty breathing, swelling of the face/throat, rapid heartbeat, full body rashes and weakness.

The factsheet states that if you see any side effects or understand the symptoms of COVID within a few hours of taking COVAXIN, inform the authorities immediately. If you have taken any medicine before and after taking the vaccine, then give correct and clear information about it too. According to the factsheet, if a beneficiary has any health problems or adverse effects of the vaccine on the application of COVAXIN, he or she will be provided with care in a government hospital. Not only this, compensation will also be provided for serious adverse event.

For the information, COVAXIN is currently in the third phase trial and its efficacy has not been fully proved yet. The clinical trial data for the third phase is being studied. Bharat Biotech has stated that the introduction of a vaccine dose does not mean that it should stop following other standards set to prevent COVID-19. This is the reason why the company has considered the need to take precautions which if ignored can cause side effects of this vaccine.
